TBR July 2019 Compassionate Capitalism by Reginald Larry-Cole

TBR – July 2019 Compassionate Capitalism by Reginald Larry-Cole

This gets added to the TBR list because of the title! The idea of a compassionate capitalism sounds great but is it an oxymoron? My view is that capitalism relies on competition and so there will always be winners and losers. More precisely, there will be the rich and poor. Not that I’m an advocate of other forms of economic structures like communism or socialism. I’m acutely aware that all types of economies have their strengths and weaknesses.

So looking more closely at the book, it is subtitled ‘How I Turned 150 NOs into 1 YES and Built A Multi-million Empire.’ So it is an inspirational/business book although the promotional text describes it as a spiritual and inspirational book.  It is also described as a ‘Rags to Riches’ tale about how the author become an entrepreneur, overcoming adversity, faith and living your dreams.

TBR – May 2019 No God But One: Allah or Jesus? A Former Muslim Investigates the Evidence for Islam and Christianity by Nabeel Qureshi

At Bookclub & More, we will be reading a Nabeel Quershi book in July and doing some digging around the author this book also caught my eye. This partly due to personal interest as I have been to Muslim and Christian interfaith meetings. I’ve also visited a mosque with other Christians in London. This was part of a programme for better understanding between the two faiths…this was ages ago. I’ve had an interest in interfaith dialogue and living and working in a cosmopolitan city like London, you meet people of all religions and none!
